In full transparency and to respond to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s defamatory letter to USADA Board Chair Dr. Tobie Smith that it published in September, we are sharing our response, which details our ongoing concerns with WADA’s past and present governance. This letter demonstrates our unending commitment to ensuring the global anti-doping system best serves athletes, and while we are unwilling to accept anything less than a fully accountable global regulator, we absolutely want WADA to succeed in its mission and be the strong global leader sport and clean athletes need and deserve.

We will work day in and day out to help WADA meet the expectations of its stakeholders, including athletes, national anti-doping organizations, government partners, and the sport movement, so that every athlete, fan, and sponsor can trust in the results of global competitions and have confidence that the Olympic and Paralympic Movement upholds the ideals upon which it was founded. After receiving this letter, we hope that WADA will change course and come to the table to discuss how to move forward in a way that prioritizes athletes’ rights, transparency, and accountability.
